Here at Nuderm Skincare, we are here to make your skin the best it can be, with the most advanced technology used within the aesthetics industry and a wealth of knowledge at our fingertips. We specialise in affordable and non-invasive treatments, and today we will be shining the spotlight on our microdermabrasion treatments.

The Origins of Microdermabrasion

Technically, microdermabrasion techniques have been in existence since Ancient Egyptian times in 1500 BCE, where doctors would use a form of sandpaper to smooth scarring. Thankfully, we have come a long way since these days, so technological advancement means you aren’t left with having to sandpaper your skin nowadays. However, the concept of using abrasion to gently exfoliate the epidermis layer by layer relates to these ancient processes in that the skin is tricked into thinking it has received a mild injury. The process means that the body’s natural response to healing kicks in, promoting new skin growth with new healthy cells. The result is the enhanced appearance and texture of your skin.

What is Microdermabrasion?

Throughout this micro derma skin treatment, dead skin cells are replaced by new ones over time as the treatment is repeated. Developed over twenty years ago, we can now make use of a microdermabrasion machine. Building on the foundations of traditional methods of dermabrasion and other crystal microdermabrasion machines, at Nuderm Skincase, we offer a special system to leave your skin completely rejuvenated. Other companies might use aluminium oxide or bicarbonate micro crystals, but instead we have implemented diamond tip microdermabrasion, offering a safer removal of the epidermis layers through vacuum suction.

What are the benefits of Microdermabrasion?

There are numerous benefits to microdermabrasion, and as it infiltrates deeper into the skin, it is able to treat acne and reduce any skin blemishes. It can reduce the appearance of age spots and pigmentation, stretch marks, acne scarring and sun damage. It can remove black heads and white heads, rehydrating dry skin, minimising large and open pores, and rebalancing coarsely-textured skin. It can rejuvenate tired, aged skin, and that which is dull, stressed or congested, as well as softening fine lines and wrinkles around the face or body, including the neck, lips and eyes.

What are the Microdermabrasion Head Grades?

When using the microdermabrasion machine, we use a choice of three different head grades. These include the lowest grade of 240 to be used on sofa, thin and brittle skin, a medium grade of 180 to be used if clients have an average skin tone and texture, and a high grade of 120 for sun damages skin that appears tough, thick and leathery. We work with our clients during the consultation to address which head grade is best suited for you.
